Race Day

The Holmquist clan likes to show off their athletic type abilities so the whole family signed up for a big race in our area. The older Holmquists battled it out in a 5k while the younger girls signed up for the "to the tree and back wina stuffed animal anyways" type race. This first picture shows the eager runners setting off at the sound of the starter's gun. Nyssa (in a yellow shirt) kept ahead of the pack the whole way and took first place. Kaia (grey shirt and pink shorts) was close on her heels and came in third. Sony (black shirt blue pants) claims she finished the race but refuses to admit her position. I don't think she should be embarrassed that Nyssa and Kaia beat her. At least not too much. I'm the one in blue and came in second. Ok just kidding. I was just the photographer. They wouldn't let me race because they didn't have a professional athlete category for me; they only had the amateur category. Risa also took first place in her race group just like all the other kids. Don't ask me how everyone can be number one. Lelia decided to turn to more scholarly pursuits but she still got her stuffed animal prize.
