Harvesting the Honey

rudy really really wanted to get to help harvest the honey this year. so Memorial day before the picnic, he and his dad went out and smoked out the bees, and brought in the honey we uncapped it and extracted quite a bit of honey. We filled ? quart jars of honey. then went off to the picnic to play. rduy only got stung twice on the facwe they hadn't put on his hat quite right. it is always big excitement at our house. everyone loves honey. and every one wants to help.
Rudy suited up ready to go he has driven the bees out and is smoking them and trying to break the top super free.
He has two fothe supers off and is getting off more bees to bring it in the house these supers with honey weigh 60 pounds. That is wood, wax, bees, and honey.
Josef, Rudy, Steven, and Sam are using a hot knife to cut the cappings offsometimes they have two knives going at once.

They put the frames into the centrifuge and spin out the honey, then we put it into a strainer, then into jars and cap it. Yum
